Dangers of wearing a waist trainer

Hi Dassyb blog readers, How's your week going? I am writing about the dangers of putting on a waist trainer. I totally understand the struggle to lose weight—shit's hard. Lowering your calorie intake, reading nutrition labels for deceptive ingredients, exercising… ugh. So of course, when we hear about something that guarantees a slimmer midsection in a few weeks without much effort we are all tempted to give it a try. It does have some disadvantages and I  will be writing about researches I was able to do online.

What is waist training?
Waist training, also known as “tight-lacing,” “getting waisted” waist erasing” and “corset training,” is a process where people try to shrink their waist sizes by wearing tight, compressive corsets. The goal in waist training is to wear the corset for as many hours in a day as possible, with the hopes of permanently or semi- permanently reducing the waist size. Some people report wearing the corset for 23 hours a day. While doing a waist training protocol, individuals may focus on reducing calories consumed, limiting “unclean” foods (junk foods), and exercising in the corset, but the most common aspect is the corset cinching/tightening. Wearing a corset-like contraption (yes, like the ones from the 1500s) to cinch your core, hips, and back. The idea is to wear it for a certain amount of time every day, and eventually, your body "molds" itself into a slimmer figure. Sounds easy enough— Jessica Alba told Net-a-Porter she used this to lose the baby weight and Khloé and Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, and Amber Rose have posted selfies sporting the waist- cinching tool.
Now to the big question: Should you try it? Well...probably not.
When you wear this 500-year-old device, you squish your lungs and ribs, which makes it hard to breathe. (Duh.) Some women have actually passed out from wearing one for too
long, says Christopher Ochner, Ph.D., weight loss and nutrition expert at Mount Sinai Hospital. And if you keep wearing it for an extended period of time? It ain't pretty: Think crushed organs, compressed lungs, and fractured ribs. Plus, experts say it doesn't really work. (*Mic drop.*) "Spot reducing doesn't exist," says Ochner. "You can't reduce the collection of fat in any one particular area of your body. If you push your stomach in, all the fat will go right back to where it was no matter how long [you wear the corset] for." Yes, some people can get away with wearing the waist trainer without any real harm done. But for a real, long-term weight-loss plan, you're better off looking elsewhere. Some of the waist training websites even talk about all of the health benefits of waist training – from constipation relief to headache reduction and everything in between. WHAT??? I CANNOT EMPHASIZE ENOUGH HOW WRONG THEY ARE AND HOW DANGEROUS THIS IS!!!
I urge you to continue reading and to discover the short and long-term complications of using a corset before deciding to use one. to the long term and short term dangers.

Short term effects

Indigestion

The compression of the corset causes compression and increased pressure within the stomach. The stomach isn’t capable of handling as much food (similar to a lap band), and the pressure causes upward movement of stomach acids. The pain associated with indigestion is called heart burn.

Heartburn

Heartburn is a symptom of indigestion (see above) that feels like tightness, burning, pain, or discomfort in the chest that is due to the stomach acid eroding the tissues of the esophagus.

Decrease in Lung Capacity

The ribcage is supposed to move freely to allow for expansion of the lungs. The corset inhibits the full expansion of the ribcage, and doesn’t allow the lungs to fully inflate. When this happens, only the upper part of the ribcage can expand, and causes an over-working of the accessory muscles of respiration. This will eventually lead to upper back and neck pain, because those muscles aren’t supposed to work that much.

Shortness of Breath

Because the lungs can’t fully inflate, a corset wearer may have difficulties achieving adequate respiration and will experience shortness of breath.

Increase in Peritoneal Pressure

The corset takes a very tightly-packed abdomen, and then squeezes it even more. The organs are squished and displaced, reducing the blood flow and function of the organs.

Faintness

Tight corsets may impede the venous return of blood from the lower part of body. If there is excess blood in the lower half of the body, and blood flow and oxygen are reduced to the brain, the end result is fainting.

Chafing

Because the corset is so tight against the skin, the pressure and compression may irritate the skin causing chafing, bruising, and callous formation.

Bloating

Increasing the pressure on the intestines and bowels make it harder for them to work. Bowel movements/intestinal transit may slow with the use of corsets, so stool and waste may take longer to evacuate. Having excess stool build up in one’s intestines will definitely
make a person feel bloated.

Long-term complications

Visceroptosis

All of the organs are held in certain places in the thoracic cavity and abdomen by connective tissues. When these organs are squeezed and pushed in different directions for long periods of time (thank you, corsets), it can weaken and lengthen the connective
tissue. Visceroptosis is a condition where the organs have weakened connectors, and are “sagging” in a downward fashion. Side effects of visceroptosis are: heart burn, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal distension, vertigo, loss of sleep, and headache (just to name a few common ones).

Chlorosis

Is an anemic condition that is marked by pale skin, fainting, tiredness, and breathlessness. This is a term that was used in the past when using corsets was commonplace, though isn’t used much nowadays.

Malnutrition

As the stomach is displaced and squished, eating habits have to change. Eating large portions becomes impossible and eating food may become uncomfortable. With the reduction in portion size and eating frequency, one runs the risk of reduced food intake and malnutrition.

Amenorrhea

When women experience malnutrition and reductions in body fat percentage, amenorrhea (when a woman’s period goes away) may occur.

Difficulty Conceiving
When the menstrual cycle in a woman is disrupted (see amenorrhea above), this causes complications with conception and may make it impossible for a woman to get pregnant.

Compression of Obstetrical Pelvis

Wearing a corset long term has been shown to decrease the size of the obstetrical pelvic inlet, which can be detrimental to the developing fetus and could cause complications during the birthing process.

Hiatal Hernia

The pressure of the corset increases the abdominal and thoracic pressure and forces the stomach upward. Sometimes the pressure is so great that the stomach is pushed through the hole (hiatus) in the diaphragm where it does not belong. Over time, this can cause bleeding, ulcers, esophageal stricture (esophagus gets narrow due to scar tissue and needs to be expanded with a special tool or surgery), and cancer due to changes in the esophageal tissue.

Difficulty Swallowing

Scar tissue will build in the esophagus from the damage created by the acid reflux. The scar tissue makes swallowing food and drink difficult.

Premature Degeneration of Spine

The entire back is meant to move- that is why we have so many individual vertebrae and joints back there! Each joint is responsible for a certain degree of motion when we move, and the movement helps lubricate the joints in the spine. Making a section of the spine immobile (ie. when wearing a corset) negatively changes the biomechanics of the spine. When you go to move, some joints are not moving enough (low and mid back), which means other joints have to move more (upper back). When joints are exposed to extra movement stress, they are predisposed to undergo premature degeneration. Similarly, when joints don’t move enough, they don’t receive adequate lubrication and nutrients, and will also degenerate faster.

Chronic Back Pain

Wearing a corset can predispose the spine to premature degeneration, which can be a painful process. Degeneration of the spine cannot be reversed, and thus can be a contributor of chronic back pain.

Dependence on Corset for Support

While wearing a corset, one may feel “supported” and may have the sensation of improved posture. This is because the corset is like a stronger version of your core muscles. While wearing a corset, your abdominal muscles and core do not need to work- the corset is doing more than enough “supporting.” Over time, the core muscles atrophy (shrink and get weak) since they are not being challenged. Upon removal of the corset, the core muscles are weak, and the body will feel unsupported. Without proper rehabilitation from a corset, a person will likely revert back to corset wearing to receive the support that their own core is no longer able to provide.

Inhibition of Diaphragm

Inhibition of diaphragm The diaphragm is a critical part of respiration, and is responsible for allowing for maximal inflation of the lungs. The diaphragm contracts and pushes abdominal contents downward, allowing the lungs to fully expand. Wearing a corset does not allow the diaphragm to do its job, so it just sits there and gets weak while the corset does its damage. Over time, the body develops a compensatory breathing pattern that excludes the diaphragm (this is bad!), and relies solely on the accessory muscles of respiration and the upper intercostal muscles. This is considered a dysfunctional breathing pattern and may cause many health problems in the future including constipation, neck pain, and head aches.

And if that wasn’t enough to scare you… How about some problems “down there?”
Wearing a corset increases the pressure on the pelvic floor, reproductive organs, and organs responsible for waste removal. As seen in the “visceroptosis” complication, sustained pressures and displacement of organs can cause a weakening of the connective
tissues that hold them in place. In the pelvis, the following can occur due to unnatural pressures on the pelvic floor: BLADDER PROLAPSE, RECTAL PROLAPSE, UTERINE PROLAPSE, SMALL BOWEL PROLAPSE, HEMORRHOIDS

Urinary Incontinence

When the connective tissues of the bladder are stretched and put under sustained pressure (like during pregnancy and while corset wearing), they become weakened and less capable of maintaining normal function. The urethral ligaments that help “kink” the ureter become stretched, and are no longer able to sufficiently stop the flow of urine. The result is urinary incontinence, which is exacerbated by stress to the area (coughing, running, laughing).

Painful Sex and Decreased Sex Drive

The increase in pressure on the pelvic floor causes unnecessary strain on the muscles and may completely change the structure of the pelvic floor (see above examples of prolapse). Many of the above listed conditions, and abnormal stresses on the pelvic floor muscles can cause painful intercourse. Pain during intercourse is not fun, and therefore women are less likely to want to have sex.

When you consider all of the negative side-effects and complications that can accompany waist training, it seems inconceivable that a person would still consider putting her (or his) body through such abuse and mutilation all for the sake of appearance.

NBA is back...... who's excited.....

Hi Dassyb blog readers, hope you are all doing great? The NBA for the 2015/2016 season is back, I am so excited, who do you think will emerge champion from the 30 competing teams including "Atlanta, Boston,Brooklyn, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland,Dallas, Denver, Detroit,Golden State, Houston, Indiana, LA Clippers, LA Lakers, Memphis,Miami, Milwaukee,Minnesota, New Orleans, New York, Oklahoma City, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, San Antonio, Toronto,Utah, Washington"
Six teams begin their season Tuesday night as the Chicago Bulls host the Cleveland Cavaliers , the Atlanta Hawks host the Detroit Pistons, and the Golden State Warriors host the New Orleans Pelicans.

Teams to watch out for

With the NBA season barely hours away, let's take a look at some of the NBA teams that may be a surprise this season. The Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs are among the teams that everyone expects to do well, but what about the other playoff teams, or the other teams that didn't make the playoffs. Can they sneak in this year? Here are a few teams to look out for?

Milwaukee Bucks:
With Parker, MCW, and Giannis Antetokounmpo expect the Bucks to return to the playoffs. Their offense is decent and they play tremendous defense. They put up a lot of fight against the Chicago Bulls in their playoff meeting and will definitely be a team to look out for.

New Orleans Pelicans:
With the Oklahoma City Thunder getting all of their players back, it may be tougher for the Pelicans to get back to the playoffs. They are going to have to pray that the Portland Trailblazers fall completely out of the picture, which many think they will. Nonetheless, the
Pelicans are primed to make some noise this year. With new coach Alvin Gentry and Anthony Davis only getting better, the Pelicans are definitely a dark horse team that can storm into the playoffs. Their defense needs some work, but that is Gentry's specialty and with Tyreke Evans looking better, the Pelicans may have a chance to get a higher playoff seeding.

Sacramento Kings:
Rajon Rondo, George Karl, and Demarcus Cousins may seem like a combustible element, but if they all get on the same page, they can do some damage. You throw in a great perimeter scorer in Rudy Gay and you have a potential playoff team. On paper, this team has what it takes to compete with the best of them. There are just too many "ifs". If Rondo is healthy, if Cousins and Karl can coexist, if Rudy Gay can be the dominant scorer he's been in the past, etc. Nonetheless, they will definitely be one of the NBA's most watched teams and they are a team to lookout for.

Dallas Mavericks:
If Deandre Jordan would've stayed with the Mavs, they would've boasted one of the NBA's best starting lineups, but they are still a decent team even though no one gives them a chance. Dirk may be on the decline, but he can shoot and score with the best of them. The Mavs success rest squarely on the shoulders of Deron Williams. If he can play at an elite level and set up Wesley Matthews and Chandler Parsons, then the Mavericks can go very far.

Indiana Pacers:
One of the NBA's most forgotten teams, the Indiana Pacers will be getting their franchise star Paul George back from injury. Pairing him with Ellis is a great move, as I believe they will compliment each other very well. Now losing Roy Hibbert and David West was huge, but they definitely have the pieces to make the playoffs in the weak eastern conference. Expect the Pacers to fight hard all season as they are still a tough team, and expect them to get one of the four last playoff spots. Watch out for the Pacers!

These teams are all worthy of putting the NBA on notice and expect them to surprise many this season. If you have another team you would like to add feel free to comment below and thanks for reading!

Why should I eat vegetables

Hi Dassyb blog readers, its another new week, I will be writing about why you and I should eat vegetables.Vegetables are something that you're told you have to eat. They're good for you. They're full of vitamins. But for most kids and many adults, the thought of eating vegetables ranks at about the same place as taking out the garbage. In fact, a lot of times, the veggies just wind up in the garbage. But it's not the fault of vegetables that they don't taste as good as chocolate or hamburgers. And the fact is that they're actually quite fascinating.Below are various facts about eating vegies... Happy reading!!!!

Vegetable nutrition facts

Why should we get diet rich in vegetable nutrition?
What are the health benefits of vegetables?
...Well!

1. Vegetables, like fruits, are low in calories and fats but contain good amounts of vitamins and minerals. All the Green-Yellow-Orange vegetables are rich sources of calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, beta-carotene, vitamin B-complex, vitamin-C, vitamin-A, and vitamin K.

2. As in fruits, vegetables too are home for many antioxidants . These health benefiting phyto-chemical compounds firstly ; help protect the human body from oxidant stress, diseases, and cancers, and secondly ; help the body develop the capacity to fight against these by boosting immunity.

3. Additionally, vegetables are packed with soluble as well as insoluble dietary fiber known as non-starch polysaccharides (NSP) such as cellulose, mucilage, hemi-cellulose, gums,
pectin...etc. These substances absorb excess water in the colon, retain a good amount of moisture in the fecal matter, and help its smooth passage out of the body. Thus, sufficient fiber offers protection from conditions like chronic constipation, hemorrhoids, colon cancer, irritable bowel syndrome, and rectal fissures.

4. Tomatoes are very high in the carotenoid Lycopene; eating foods with carotenoids can lower your risk of cancer. Other vegetables high in carotenoids are carrots, spinach, sweet potatoes, and collard greens.... Go for greens today to help you stay fitTomatoes are very high in the carotenoid Lycopene; eating foods with carotenoids can lower your risk of cancer. Other vegetables high in carotenoids are carrots, spinach, sweet potatoes, and collard greens. and healthy!

5. According to "Younger You," the secret to a healthy and flourishing body is to consume lots of fresh vegetables. The consumption, though, goes beyond just salads. Apparently
you're supposed to scrub them over your skin as well. "Don't Throw That Away!" goes just as far, recommending that you get the best of both worlds by using the rinds for skin care and the insides for food. Avocados are some of the most popular. Instead of
throwing the rinds away, you can rub them over your skin and hair. While this will leave you looking like you just got slimed, it will nourish your skin. It's also a fraction of the price of regular avocado scrubs. If you need to exfoliate, then put sea salt on the rind and then rub it over your body. You can do the same thing with citrus rinds as well as cucumber peels. In fact, you can place the cucumber peels over your eyes and get the same benefits you would get from a spa facial.

How to use vegetables?

First thing you need to do soon after shopping your choice of vegetables is to wash them thoroughly, especially green leafy vegetables. Rinse in salt water for few minutes, and
gently swish in cool water until you are satisfied with cleanliness. This way, you ensure them free from dirt, sand and any residual chemical sprays.
Use them early while fresh because, firstly , certain vegetables have very short shelf life and secondly , the health benefiting properties of a vegetable declines with time. However, if you need to store them, then place inside plastic wrappings or in zip pouches in order to preserve their nutrition for short-periods until you use them.

With these few facts, try including some vegies into your diet, it helps a lot..

F1...... Hamilton wins

Hi dassyb blog readers, its a new week, hope you had a wonderful weekend? This week I will be starting with F1. Hamilton won yayyy!!!!! Read up all he said after the victory and the current driver and team standings. Happy reading!!!

Formular one (F1)

Hamilton wins

Lewis Hamilton wins his 3rd Formula One drivers' championship and says its the greatest moment of his life. A jubilant Lewis Hamilton said he was struggling to put his feelings into words after clinching his third Formula One drivers' championship with victory in Austin on Sunday.

The Briton prevailed in a breathless, frenetic and wildly unpredictable US race - and with Mercedes team mate Nico Rosberg beating Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel to second, earned an unassailable lead in the standings.
"It's difficult to find the words really. I owe it all to my dad and family who supported me all these years and sacrificed so much," Hamilton said afterwards. "It's a very humbling experience, especially to equal Ayrton Senna [on three world titles] - I feel very blessed today.
"It's the greatest moment of my life. I pushed and pushed - I hope I can inspire people to never give up. It's just crazy to think I'm now a three-time world champion."
Hamilton admitted there were several occasions where he thought his chance of victory was over, particularly after dropping to fourth at mid-distance and then losing the advantage to Rosberg late on.
"Today so many times I thought I had lost the race," he said. "Nico was really quick in stages, he pitted under the Virtual Safety Car…but never for one second did I think I couldn't do it. "I'm buzzing inside… I can't find the right words to express the feeling but it's the greatest I've had in my life. Nico drove a fantastic race, mad respect for him as a team mate. I just can't believe I'm sitting here. To my family, I love you. To the team, thank you so much - I'm overdue a drink with the team!"

Why should I eat fruits.... fruit nutrition facts...

Why should I eat fruits?

Hi Dassyb blog readers, Happy Sunday to you all. Hope your weekend has been great?
So why should I eat fruits.... That's a question I have heard from several people and will be giving an answer to it this wonderful Sunday afternoon..
Fruits are nature’s wonderful gift to the mankind; indeed, they are life-enhancing medicines packed with vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants and many phyto-nutrients (Plant derived micronutrients). They are an absolute feast to our sight, not just because of their color and flavor but for their unique nutrition-profile that help human body free from diseases and keep it healthy!

Fruit nutrition facts

1. Fruits are low in calories and fat and are a source of simple sugars, fiber, and vitamins, which are essential for optimizing our health.
2. Fruits provide plenty of soluble dietary fiber, which helps to ward off cholesterol and fats from the body and to help in smooth bowel movements as well as offer relief from
constipation ailments.
3. Fruits compose of many anti-oxidants such as poly-phenolic flavonoids, vitamin-C, and anthocyanins. These compounds, firstly , help human body protected from oxidant stress, diseases, and cancers, and secondly; help the body develop capacity to fight against these ailments by boosting our immunity level. Many fruits, when compared to vegetables and cereals, have very high anti-oxidant values, which is measured in terms of their "Oxygen Radical Absorbent Capacity" or (ORAC).
4. Anthocyanins are flavonoid category of poly-phenolic compounds found in some "blue-fruits" like blue-black grapes, mulberries, acai berry, chokeberry, blueberries, blackberries, and in many vegetables featuring blue or deep purple pigments. Consumption of fruits rich in blue pigments offers many health benefits. These compounds have potent anti-oxidant properties that help remove free radicals from the body, and thus offer protection against
cancers, aging, infections, etc. Majority of these pigments in the fruits tend to concentrate just underneath their skin.

5. Fruit’s health benefiting properties are because of their richness in vitamins, minerals, micro-nutrients, pigment anti-oxidants. Altogether, these compounds help the body prevent or at least prolong the natural changes of aging by protecting from damage and rejuvenating cells, tissues, and organs. Their overall benefits are manifold! Fruit nutrition benefits are emormous! Including fruits in daily diet, you are protecting yourself from minor ailments like wrinkling of skin, hair-fall, and memory loss to major ailments like age-related macular degeneration (AMRD) of the retina in the eyes, Alzheimer’s disease, colon cancers, weak bones (osteoporosis)…etc., and the list of fruit nutrition benefits simply never ends!
6.Research studies suggest that one may eat any servings of fruits daily. It is recommended to eat at least 2-3 servings of fresh fruits every day.
7. Include seasonal fruits in the daily diet. Variety of fruits type, color, and flavor should be encouraged to get maximum health benefits. Yellow and orange color fruits are rich sources of a and ß carotenes, zea-xanthin and crypto- xanthin, while blue, black colored like black or blueberries are a good source of poly-phenolic anthocyanin anti- oxidants.

Are you happy?

Dear Dassyb blog readers, hope u are having a great weekend?

Do you ever have a moment where you realize you’re talking to someone who can only say something from on top of their high horse? I have to admit that someone like that gets under my skin. Of course, I know they might only be nasty because they are coming from a place of pain themselves. So to move past my own yucky feelings about lame situations, I try to think of how much I love my life and I think of all the wonderful things I have and do. Or I count my blessings as it were. And I move on because I am happy and I like to stay that way!

Have a great weekend! I wish you happiness!

Saturday motivation..... that voice in your head

That voice in your head

Dear Dassyb blog readers, Hope you had a splendid week?
Today's motivation will be about that voice in your head that thinks you can't do it. You can prove that voice wrong today by ignoring it and going for your dreams. I’m off to prove that the voice inside my head who thinks I will always suck at reaching my exercising goals is wrong!
How about you? What will you do today that you didn’t you could do before?

Well, here’s to trying new things and to believing in one’s untested abilities!

Good luck this weekend with whatever you’re up to!

Anger...... Dont let it ruin you.....management tips

Anger Management

We all know what anger is, and we’ve felt it at one time or the other. That fury sensation when you found your closest friend talking about you behind your back. Or whatever the reason is that makes you yelling, swearing, and blasting at someone or throwing things around like the hot-headed. I will be sharing steps to managing your anger. Although anger management may take sometime but its worth trying.
An angry person

Tips to anger management

1. Understand that anger is a problem

If you’re not convinced of this, then anger management tips will go right over your head, like sex tips aimed at Tibetan monks. How is anger a problem, you ask? Surely it’s healthy, and useful to some degree...? Anger is unhelpful in a number of ways, but there are a lot of commonly used arguments that I won’t bother with: ‘Anger’s not nice; people don’t like it’.
'Um... that's the whole point', you might respond! You may not want to be a 'nice' person; and you definitely don’t want people to like it. Anger is bad because it is an
an ineffective way of operating in the (social) world, can occasionally backfire, and ultimately ruins relationships.
At its core, anger is an evolved intimidation strategy. The most publicised instances of anger occur in war zones, in traffic, and in hotel lobbies. But surveys tell us that approximately 80% of day-to-day anger actually occurs with family and loved ones whom you care about (by definition). These aren’t necessarily people you wish to bully and intimidate. Actually, anger is much less effective in getting people around you to behave
‘correctly’ than, say, heart-to-hearts, cajoling, incentives, or calmly stated assertiveness. And even when anger does have the odd pay-off—your husband remembers to lift the toilet seat or your housemate turns the music down—it comes at the cost of warmth and intimacy, and tends to come back to bite you (in the form of defensiveness or escalation mostly). Just about every bit of research out there suggests that having warm (non- angry) relationships is the key to human happiness and emotional well being. So this is no small cost.

2. Acknowledge and accept your anger

Take some time off, walk to a corner or walk anywhere to give yourself a space. Then, recognise the angry sensations in your mind, your body, and let it flow like a river. Remember that current anger state will not stay very long.

3. Monitor your anger

I strongly recommend keeping an anger log over at least two or three weeks. You may be surprised at what it reveals. As well as raising insight, it can help you to take a detached ‘observer stance’ with regard to your anger. Monitor any and every episode of anger, from fleeting moments of frustration or impatience, to extreme rage.
For each one, note down the facts of what went down (neighbour’s dog still barking despite our asking them to deal with it); the intensity of your anger 0-10, where 0 = no anger, and 10 = maximum rage; any thoughts or images you were aware of during the scene (wringing the
dog’s neck, keying the neighbour’s car, memories of the conversation you’d had with him the week before, etc.); any other feelings you may have experienced in the scene (e.g. anxiety, dread); and what you actually did (ranted to wife). This habit of systematically describing your angry outbursts is often all someone needs in order to gain a little perspective. Give it a whirl.

4. Feel the anger and DON’T do it anyway - Take a deep breath

Anger interferes with problem-solving and good judgement, and males you rash and rigid in your thinking. This is why even the most articulate person you know can be reduced to repetitious expletives when enraged. Ambrose Bierce, the American satirist, wisely remarked, “speak when you are angry and you will make the best speech you will ever regret.” While fear drives us to flee, anger drives us to aggress and confront. Anger motivates revenge and retaliation. Unfortunately, the best revenge is not, as a rule, to live well. Anger is a poor guide to happiness. Hence my counter intuitive advice to ‘Feel the
anger and not do it anyway’—the flipside to the pop- psychology slogan. I would recommend you: go to bed angry (despite your grandmother’s advice); sit on the angry email for a day or two before sending it; walk away from a fight where possible; and seek advice from a (non-angry) third party before taking any hostile action. If you still wish to carry out these actions when you’re calmer, then go ahead. They may coincide with self-interest. But, chances are you won’t want to. In the heat of anger you’re likely to make decisions you’ll regret. When you are angry, your breathing and heart rate will increase. Take a deep breath from your diaphragm to calm your mind and slow your heartbeat. Keep breathing slowly for five minutes or until your breathing rhythm back to the normal state

5. Understand your feeling vocabulary and do something positive to let go of your anger

Once you feel relaxed, ask yourself what you really feel. As anger is only a camouflage, find out exactly what is your real feeling. Do you feel sad because your colleague betrays you? Do you feel disappointed because your parents are not around when you need them? To let go by doing something positive. It can be anything depending on your personality type. If you like to exercise, go for a run or kickboxing to let the steam off. If you like to write, grab a pen and walk your feeling into a writing like Sue Sylvester from Glee who constantly expresses her angry emotion in her diary. If you are a music lover, listen to favourite music to soothe you down. Or watch a comedy movie to make you laugh. Whatever it is, choose an activity that does not harm yourself or others – no violence, no abuse!

6. Watch yourself angry: the Federer cure

The angry are often proud of their anger. Even if they leave a scene having achieved nothing (such as giving the finger to a car that pulls in front of them), they often experience a warm inner glow of self-satisfaction as a result of their actions. They appear to believe they’ve just accomplished something tough, powerful and righteous. This is not, of course, how they are perceived by their victims, spouses, or onlookers… And more interestingly, it’s not necessarily what they themselves might think if they could watch themselves from the outside while not angry. It's worth seeing or hearing yourself genuinely angry at least once in your life. If it’s difficult to catch yourself in a spontaneous fit of rage, it’s worth replaying an angry scene in front of the mirror. According to tennis great Roger Federer, who was a racket-smashing brat in his junior years, it was watching himself throwing tantrums on TV that put him off it for life.

7.Become less judgemental

If anger is driven by internal rules of how others ought to behave, this makes it a very ‘self- righteous’ emotion. But if you can see some of your rules for what they are —‘just the way I was brought up’ or ‘my way of doing things’—then it will naturally seem silly to judge others for not following them. It helps to remind yourself of the many different ways in which humans around the world operate. There’ll almost always be someone who agrees with you, and others who staunchly oppose you. That’s because these things are matters of opinion, not fact. Must people work hard and strive to reach their fullest potential, or is a breezier, more spiritual life acceptable too? You probably have opinions on these things, which is fine. But if you walk around convinced your opinions on how people must behave are right and universal, you’ll live a restricted life, as well as an angry one.

8. Empathise

Empathy overlaps somewhat with ‘thinking scientifically’, except that it’s more intuitive. Empathising means living in the skin of someone else. It is an antidote to anger, because it’s hard to condemn someone if you really understand where they’re coming from. Anger almost always involves an inability to get the person you’re angry at. It stems from a failure to understand them. This is why so much anger is expressed verbally in statements of apparent astonishment or perplexity:
Why the hell would you do something like that?
What’s gotten into you?
How could you ... ?
I can’t believe this!
What was she thinking?
These, incidentally, are actually very good questions to ask yourself in earnest when you're angry, but people only ever intend them rhetorically (and pejoratively). Often, interestingly, the people we profess to find the most perplexing are those closest to us, whom we'd be best placed to empathise with. A couple I saw recently was fighting over domestic chores. As it turned out, the husband liked things to be clean and hygienic, but was relatively oblivious to tidiness; the wife needed things to look neat and orderly, but didn’t worry that much about dust or germs. Each thought that their own standpoint was sensible, and that the other person’s was entirely neurotic. The truth is: neither of these viewpoints is silly or hard to relate to. They simply reflect different concerns or priorities. Most of the time it’s not so much that individuals can’t relate to one another, it’s that they just don’t : they’re blinkered by their own point of view and place more importance on making their own points than on understanding others'.

9. Get your facts straight

Angry people often display a bias toward interpreting others’ behaviour as hostile, deliberate, or nasty, even when they lack the information to really be sure. They’re occasionally right, of course, but very frequently they’ve gotten something wrong, or taken it the wrong way. The simplest first step in reducing your anger is to take a moment and make sure you’ve got all your facts straight. Are you sure the acquaintance who passed you by really snubbed you and didn’t just not see you? Can you be certain that your wife’s forgetting to pick up the milk was really a personal sign of disrespect , and not just an oversight? Are you positive your neighbour is playing that music just to spite you? Is it really fair to say that so and so is always late, or that such and such never does anything nice for you? Are you sure you've understood your opponent's position? If you aren’t positive beyond a reasonable doubt, why not suspend your judgement, pending further evidence. Innocent until proven guilty. This little habit alone can save you a lot of unnecessary grief, or should I say grievance.

10. Communicate your feeling

Now that you have explored and accepted your anger, communicate it to the person who makes you angry. Stay objective, stick to the issue, and do not put judgement on the other person. A simple formula to communicate your feeling is to state the fact and your need.
Fact – Take an example, when your friend talked about you behind your back, and you feel hurt. State the fact to him/her “When you talked about my personal problem to Tom and I don’t know about it, I feel hurt.” This way, you’re explaining what the person did have affected you.
Need – Once you get the fact straight, don’t miss the boat of telling the person what you really need from him/her, like “I need to be able to trust you”.

11. Listen to the other persons point of views, find a solution and learn from the situation

Finish with your fact and need, and continue with listening to the other person’s story. There might be a reason why he/she did that action too. Try to understand his/her fact as well. Do not be assumptive and quickly jump into conclusions. At the end of the day, find a solution that works best for both of you. Make a request of what you expect fromthat person in the future and vice versa. Don’t pinpoint who’s right or wrong, and don’t be harsh in stating your request. For the case above, you can request something like this “If you don’t mind, would it be possible for you not to talk about my personal problems to other people?” Remember, your goal should be solving problems without damaging the relationship.
For every situation, there is always a lesson to learn. Maybe you play your part in this situation too, so learn how to improve yourself for example try to be more patient. Learn how to improve your response when the situation hits in and learn what can be done differently in the future.

12. Talk to therapist

If you are still struggling a deep anger problem and don’t know how to deal with it anymore, you can contact professional therapist or psychologist near you. They will guide you step by step on how to explore your feeling, respond to triggers, and learn problem-solving
skills to resolve your anger.
